Annual Rimstones Rock Club Gem & Mineral Show

Report on the 2019 Show and Our Plans for 2020

2019 Show

Our 2019 Annual Gem & Mineral ShowFor 22 years the Payson Rimstones Rock Club has hosted a gem and minerals show in a local venue. In 2019 the show returned to the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino on the outskirts of Payson, and was deemed a great success!

The show far exceeded all expectations. Our attendance was over 1,600 counting the vendors, but not the club volunteers. This was double our average yearly attendance. We had 1,250 paid admissions and 163 children under 13. Several people came to the show all three days. Proceeds from the show help to fund our annual scholarships, meet other club expenses, and replace some of the items used for the show.

Our vendor feedback was positive. They commented on how helpful the volunteers were and said they loved the change of venue back to the Casino. Most had very good sales. The added security provided by the cameras in the activity center was very reassuring to many of the vendors.

Most of the vendors are planning to return in 2020. In fact, one interesting thing was the number of vendors who contacted us the week of the show and at the show wanting to be in next year’s show. They like the current mix of products we have now. There may be room for a couple of additional open spaces for next year, but we will make sure that the products offered do not duplicate what we already have. We do not want to show too many similar minerals or too many pieces of similar jewelry.

We requested that the Casino reserve the third weekend in September again for next year. (Mark your calendars!)
